Why do people get That Style of plastic surgery? /u/Tick_agent No such thing as stupid questions

You know the one, the one people imagine when they say someone looks like they’ve had work done. Caterpillar lips, no facial expressions, overfilled cheekbones ect. The ugly streetside caricature of a Kardashian.

I understand why people get surgery that makes them more conventionally attractive, you know, nose jobs you only know about if they had a different nose when you met them and such.

And I understand why they get the super weird body mods that make them less human looking and generally a part of a subculture like split tongues and pointy ears.

However, That Style is widely looked down upon and seen as unattractive. The people who look like that are seen as shallow, bland, insecure and unintelligent. And they’re not particularly estranged, it’s not a statement or really self-expression, the look is to my knowledge not a part of any subculture, movement or tight-knit social group, so…. why? How do you get to that? Is it just botched work or do they look like that on purpose?
