What should I name my soon to be cat?

I’m doing a post like this for every subreddit on games I like since I did something similar but I asked my friends instead for my old cat. I named him Charlie after Charles back when I was SUPER obsessed with RDR, I still am tho lol.

Anyways, I’m getting a black cat soon, she’s a little baby, and I wanna give her a cute name that is linked to one of my favorite games/shows, but idk what name to pick. I was thinking Rosette for Amy Rose from sonic, but I’m not sure yet lol. Does anyone think they could give me a name maybe linked to one of the characters from any of the RDR games, even Red dead revolver, that I could name her?

The minigame problem (you are not interested in them – even if you think you are) /u/bip_bip_hooray Old School RuneScape!

With jagex’s annual survey out, the perennial question is once again being asked of the community:

How interested would you be in……minigames e.g. fist of guthix, stealing creation

And I’m here to remind you that even if you think you are interested in this, you are not. People CLAMORED for years for soul wars. They remembered how fun it was to play when they were a kid, just like stealing creation, just like fist of guthix. Be truly honest with yourself – if you wanted soul wars, how much do you play it now?

The answer is almost definitely none. Nobody is playing minigames for fun in 2024, you play them for bis rewards. People play pest control and barb assault, and they do not play soul wars and castle wars. The distinction is very simple and obvious – if it isn’t “worth it”, if it isn’t advancing your account, people don’t wanna do it.

I’m not here to lament the death of casual scape or reminisce on how I was top 25 rank in fist of guthix as a child. I’m just here to state the obvious: minigames are a waste of dev time and you are not interested in them, even if you think you are.

Lance Newb /u/MisterDreadful Monster Hunter: World

I’ve bounced off the game a few times, not because I think the game is bad in away, but because I’m bad at memorizing moves.

Anywho, I want to really dive in this time and I’m wondering if I can get by early on with just some basic Poke Poke Poke guard and charge thrust

Getting promoted to senior vs new job as senior? /u/CampAsAChamp CSCQ protests reddit

Wanted to get your guys thoughts and if any of y’all had experience with either path?

In my mind it’s pretty hard to go from SWE 2 to then apply to other companies and get Senior. I’ve seen it at my company that they’ll just down level you to SWE 2 unless you have a perfect interview.

But then it can also take a long time to go from SWE 2 to Senior at your own company as well.

I’m also not talking about startups and other companies with the title inflation.

Is Fast Enterprise a good or bad career choice /u/b3fr4ank CSCQ protests reddit

TLDR: Is fast enterprises a good or bad choice for a job right after graduation?

I know there are a few posts on here about Fast Enterprise being not a great place to work but most of them are 5+ years old. My main concern is transferable skills I know they used to use VB but in my interview they mentioned using C#. Can Anyone who works there shed light on this? My other main concern is how much of the job is actually writing code.

I just graduated from a no-name school and although I have two internships I am having a hard time even getting interviews. So I am wondering if working at Fast for a few years is a good idea or just continue trying my luck with other companies?

Does the level of authority of the person referring you to their company matter? /u/Smowkilo CSCQ protests reddit

I know some people here post about how they got referred by their friends and they still didn’t even get an interview. Could this be the case even if you got referred by someone higher up? Right now I’m being referred by someone pretty high up who oversees engineering operations and they said they’d speak to the hiring manager and connect me with them directly. Anyone have any experience with a similar situation or any idea what I should expect? Thanks

Turing rant /u/just-coding-tonight CSCQ protests reddit

I recently came across this new website called Turing that lists software development jobs. It looks like a great site.

I applied for a few jobs, and now, for each job, the platform wants me to spend at least 45 minutes doing a web browser technical algorithm test.

No. Thank-you.

I’ve held software development jobs for years and these tests have nothing to do with the tasks done on the job.

We need to collectively stop supporting these testing methods.

Thank-you for listening to my rant.
