Blizzard is killing dubbing on other languages /u/Orteku World of Warcraft

​r/wow Today, Spanish players received patch 11.0.7, and to their surprise, the new cinematic was only available in English. In the past, there were instances where cinematics had no audio at all due to bugs, but this situation is different. This time, the cinematic was released directly with the original English voices, though the subtitles were translated into Spanish. While watching AlterTime’s stream, the biggest Spanish WoW channel and fansite, he mentioned that the issue stems from Microsoft not reaching an agreement with voice actors regarding AI usage. As a result, we now have an expansion with a mix of Spanish and English voiceovers. This isn’t entirely new, though. The Spanish Hearthstone team was previously disbanded, and now Hearthstone features some lines in Latin American Spanish or even lacks voice acting altogether. While this is currently affecting Spanish players, there’s no guarantee that other non-English languages won’t face similar issues in the future, perhaps starting with Midnight and beyond. submitted by /u/Orteku [link] [comments]

Got gifted a Vial of Sands some 6+ years ago. /u/MaliciousPeasant World of Warcraft

​r/wow Around 6 or 7 years ago (Can’t remember exactly when) I was sitting in Stormwind and seen somebody in trade say something along the lines if “Vial of Sands on AH 5g” he did this a couple more times, in disbelief I checked the auction house fully expecting a troll but there it was, sitting there for next to nothing, even though he could have sold each one for around 70k at the time. Unfortunately before I could complete the purchase, somebody else had beaten me to it and took the last one. I opened up a dm with the player practically giving away this very expensive mount, expressing my disappointment in being unable to catch one before they were sniped but thanked him for doing it regardless. He invited me to a party, asked me to meet him outside SW Bank and just straight up gave me one. I was ecstatic as I wanted this mount for a long time and never managed to get one as I was always bad at making gold. I thanked him profusely and when I asked him why he done all that he just said to one thing: “Karma :)” and logged off. Years had passed and Shadowlands came along, I made my millions in that expansion, spending 7-8 hours a day farming leather for weeks on end and crafting legenadries to sell on the auction house. One day when sitting in Oribos I seen somebody ask a question about Hunter specific legendary, I got charting with the guy and found out pretty quickly he was fairly fresh to the game, I walked him through any questions he had, added him as a friend in case he needed to ask anybody more experienced any questions about the game and as a parting gift, I gifted him a pair of Legendary shoulders for his class that around the time sold for about 35-45k on the auction house, remembering how this one player made my day by gifting me the Vial of Sands, I wanted to do the same for somebody else and only asked him to do the same for somebody else one day. I can’t remember either of their names but I really hope eventually one day, if he still plays, he did something kind for somebody else, and to the player who gifted me Vial of Sands many years ago, you truly changed the way I interact and play the game with others and made this game a little less toxic, as I hope I did too! submitted by /u/MaliciousPeasant [link] [comments]
