Thinking of playing WoW for the first time, anything I need to know regarding buying of the game and expansions? /u/SuicidalGaint World of Warcraft

I’m currently taking a break from FFXIV and thinking of possibly just quitting the game altogether. I need an fix for my MMO needs. I tried GW2 for a bit but didn’t mesh with me too much and I know WoW has been said to be the king of MMO’s and I’m thinking of giving it a try.
When I was looking at the store I saw 3 different editions. The perks under those editions just make sense to me so I thought I might ask here.
Which would be the best for a new player? Also does buying the game give you a month’s worth subscription like FFXIV?
Another thing is buying a sub as annoying as buying one for FFXIV and how much does it cost?

Then my last question is just how do the expansions work?
