non stop verification /u/crtilden Steam on Reddit

recently my mac has been sitting in the verification setting for basically every game in steam except for stardew valley. the other day i was able to bypass it when playing disco elysium by x-ing out of it, but it took a few tries. civ it’s not letting me bypass at all, and the fact that it’s taking this long to play games i’ve never had an issue with before is starting to get on my nerves. i have a macbook pro and it’s OS is currently on the sonoma 14.5. any help would be appreciated!!

Unsure what the download/update timestamp mean exactly /u/FlowSilver Steam on Reddit

Apologies for the terrible vid quality, I will try in words as well:

Ok so im updating hogwarts legacy after having not touched it for a year

Now it says: 1:10:13

And I assumed the 13 meant seconds as it kept changing but it does not change at a regular pace

So by this setup if it aint seconds, Please tell me this does now mean 1 day and 10 hours and 13 mins

My wifi is shit and the update speed is on avrg at 10 MB/s so ofc it wont be fast but this update would then take longer than when I installed the game…and my weekend is almost over…:(

So yea what do the timestamp setup mean?

Also does steam have an option where I can say use Cellular data but only for like 20 gigabytes and then it should resort to using Wifi?

I love my steamdeck /u/Fantastic-Beach7663 Steam on Reddit

Just to say I love my steamdeck. I just had a 15 hour plane flight to Tokyo and the time flew by with it on me. Many of my fellow passengers were tapping me on the shoulder wondering what it was.

The frame rate does get a bit choppy (I was playing Plague Take requirem) but if and when we get a Steamdeck 2 I’ll be first in line.

Uninstalling and re-installing Steam on the same PC. /u/cowboy_ninja_viking Steam on Reddit

Ok, here’s a dumb one for you.

Let’s say Steam is acting funny and I want to uninstall Steam and reinstall it. On the same computer. No other changes. Do I lose the save progress of the games that are currently installed? Like when I reinstall Steam will the games be in their current save state that they were before removing and reinstalling the application?

Not talking about perpetually online games like Rocket League or something, specifically asking about games like Starfield or Black Myth, you know, games like that.

I can’t seem to find a straight answer to this.

recommendation system is not the best /u/Efficient-Load-256 Steam on Reddit

How can I be asked to recommend or recommend against(it reads” not recomended, but thumbs down feels more like im recomending against something), to people I don’t even know? In real life I don’t approach people and recommend people stuff unless I know their tastes. That would be egocentrical and projecting my likes on other people. I’m more likely to share how much I enjoyed myself playing something – and it’s not binary, it’s more along “screw this game”, “meh played it cause had nothing better to play”, “love this game”. And that’s kind of info I would like to see when browsing reviews – to see how much people enjoyed themselves.

Let’s say we have game A that currently would have 300 recomendations and 50 “not recomendations. You would think that it’s a rather good game. But If game A had rather 300 “love it” 1500 “meh” and 50 “didn’t enjoy myself at all” that tells a whole different story.

I would have better image with other system as a consumer.

Weird Steam Cloud upload issue that I did find mitigation for /u/unquietwiki Steam on Reddit

Weird Steam Cloud upload issue that I did find mitigation for /u/unquietwiki Steam on Reddit

I use Starry as an ISP here in the US, and I noticed recently that my Steam Cloud uploads haven’t been successfully completing. Concurrently, Starry doesn’t presently support IPv6, and I was curious how I might have access to that aside from HE.net tunnels that no longer work with streaming; so I loaded the 1.1.1.1 “Warp” app from Cloudflare & tested that out; it works on IPv6 support. What it also does for me, is fix my Steam Cloud upload. The Warp app only supports up to 250Mbit download, so I turn it off when I don’t need it, but flip it on when I need to sync Starfield or some other game.

TLDR: for some weird networking reason, I have to flip on the Cloudflare Warp app to get my Steam Cloud to upload properly.

Offline is checked while my account is online /u/HunterZenox Steam on Reddit

Steam says I am online to friends, and shows me online in the friends overlay. But has offline checked in the dropdown menu and has my name grayed out in the top right corner. Clicking online, offline, or invisible in the dropdown menu does change my actual status in the overlay, but the checkmark never moves, and my name stays gray. Seems to be a graphical glitch on the dropdown menu and name tag, Is there any way to fix?
