Game sharing and playing the same game online together at the same time with a friend(s) /u/One_1_Tap Steam on Reddit

Alright here’s what I’m asking is it possible for me and my friends to play the same game at the same time online without buying multiple copies of the game? I am looking at the steam family feature and it seems to be ideal, but I don’t like the part where I have to buy multiple copies of the same game, is there a workaround for this? Or is there an alternative method of game sharing where I will be able to play the same game with my friends online at the same time?

My brother is about to move out and we are using steam family /u/Zyfil Steam on Reddit

Hey like the title suggests, I have been using steam family for convenience with my brother for some time but he is planning to move out, the place where he found rent is about 45-50km away from us. Now my problem and question, is that I don’t know what rules and restrictions are there for steam families, because no matter what I typed in google, I only got many months old reddit posts saying that it “works but it’s maybe not going to”. I can’t find an official announcement saying this is possible/not possible and just wanted to ask whether anyone here knows because neither of us wants to get any negative repercussions from this.

Can't uninstall steam

I got a new installation of Windows(10) on my PC (C drive). Steam was already installed on one of my hard drives (D), but when I opened it, it started updating, then littered my desktop with a bunch of files. I get that probably my desktop was for some reason set as the default directory, but
1, why did steam feel the need to install itself when it was clearly already on my PC
2, I sure as hell didn’t change the default directory to be the desktop

My PC cannot find steam for uninstall when I search for it under apps, and the uninstaller has a textfield that asks where it should be uninstalled from, but I can’t write anything in it.

Any suggestions?

Escape key doesn’t work

A buddy of mine just finished building his pc and is playing helldivers but every time he presses escape this shows up, I’ve never seen it and have over 150 hours in the game. Does anyone have any idea what would be causing this?

I had a few visa gift cards with less than $5 so I was going to put it into Marvel Rivals to buy the $1 currencies. Is this possible to buy them directly from the card or do I have put $5 funds into my steam wallet?

Uninstalling the program deletes the directory – why? /u/Basic_Foundation8029 Steam on Reddit

Uninstalling the program deletes the directory – why? /u/Basic_Foundation8029 Steam on Reddit

I was having an issue with a single game’s files not registering in the game, and saw in a help thread that uninstalling and re-installing the Steam app seemed to do the trick. The help thread did not mention that Steam ERASES EVERYTHING upon uninstallation. Not just the program, the whole folder and all subfolders inside of it. WHY? WHY IS THAT THE DEFAULT?!

My game saves, my customizations, everything from the last 6 years… Gone. I’m about ready to cry because of the literal days and weeks worth of stuff that has been deleted. As long I’ve been working with computers, it is such a rookie mistake to have all your data wiped out – but it’s so asinine to have that be the standard for deleting an app! What a terrible choice made by the software developers.. How hard is it to just get rid of the base app software and leave everything else? I can’t believe this, it’s like a bad dream. There’s nothing I can do, not a thing, to get all my stuff back and literally all I can do is vent on here and stare at the black hole on my desktop where my data used to be.
