Okay. Never in my life did I think I would encounter something so disturbing while searching for a Minecraft mod.

Image 1 / Context: I was looking for mods that added new structures to the game and new ways of generating terrain, new biomes… I came across this mod (very well known by the way) called Alex’s Caves.

The mod seemed ideal for my modpack. However, I saw that it was only available for version 1.20.1 of the game, while I play on 1.19.2. Of course, I didn’t give up at first, and I did what I always do: I looked to see if there was any fork or port of the mod for version 1.19.2…

Image 2: found this page on github. This user called min2222 asks if he could backport the mod to version 1.19.2. He claims that many people still play the version (which is 100% true).

Image 3: But the request is DENIED, and the mod owner says that this mod depends on new features from version 1.20 and that without these features it would be incomplete, and the support chat is closed and declared “case complete”.

Image 4: User min2222 again opens a support chat and politely asks to reconsider the decision, as according to him, the backport was ready and without any bugs that would decisively affect gameplay.

Image 5: This is where things get weird.

Despite the explanation that there are no decisive bugs, the mod creator again denies the request, this time using more aggressive language. He asks that no new tickets be opened regarding this issue, and says to “respect our wishes if you really care about the mod in the first place”, again closing the support chat and declaring it complete.

This is quite strange, as he seems to take some pride in not allowing ports of the mod. If you are a person who downloads mods frequently, you should know that the main reason they stay alive and are played more is because of the vast amount of people willing to make this happen, to port good mods to other versions for more people to follow and play and have fun. Normally, mod creators view these people positively, as they allow their creations to be enjoyed by more people if the creator himself does not have time to port the mod to other versions, ESPECIALLY when these people who are willing to make these ports politely ask permission from the creator before making them.

But that’s NOT the disturbing part: the next one is.

Image 6: I clicked on the link that user min2222 left at the end of his first request, in image 2: a link to the backport he had made. I came across a 404 error, meaning the page no longer existed / was deleted.

Image 7: I didn’t accept being without the backport and wanted to find a way to download it to test if it worked. To do this, I used web.archive.org, a website famous for storing different changes to web addresses, so that they can be accessed in cases like this. YES! It got saved. I opened the link.

Image 8: That’s when I came across what you can see in image 8. A completely disturbing paragraph, with an absurd amount of regret in every word. Not very long, and I could actually feel something VERY sad behind whoever wrote it. Just read.

WHAT HAPPENED? Look at the way user min2222 wrote about how this was the WORST MISTAKE OF HIS LIFE and how he will REGRET THIS FOR THE REST OF HIS LIFE. Why would a simple rejection of a request for permission to backport a mod make him feel this way? Something else happened, and I’m not sure I want to find out what it was. I totally disagree with the conduct of the mod creator! Very selfish. However, if anyone knows what happened, please feel free to share! I can’t lie, I’m extremely curious.

I’m 26 and played Minecraft growing up.

Recently I’ve been getting back into playing with my husband on our server together. I have died and lost all of my things so many times 😭

We have goals to: – kill the ender dragon, go to an end city and get elytra – find a bastian (for netherite armor)

SO please give me tips on how to “get good” lol
