Best choice of leather shoe past the bare minimum /u/FreqTrade /r/malefashionadvice

As far as leather shoes go, I own brown Chelseas and black slip-ons. I live in Chicago, so I’m not concerned with something being too heavy. My thoughts were to expand to a boot/shoe with a more polished/preppy look than the Chelsea (say Chukka/Oxford/Derby) but with more substance than a slip-on.

If height is a factor – I’m 5’4, so preferably not something that would make me look even shorter.

Professionally/socially, I’m in grad school (but on the older end at 31) so there’s no dress code, but the people whose company I best enjoy tend to be young professionals who code as normie but like fancy restaurants and cocktail bars, so something that works well in that cohort would be good.

What has worked best for you, and what would be the best colour to go with? I’m somewhat flexible with my budget, but suggestions on the affordable side would be appreciated.

Where can I find menswear inspiration? /u/jonkrantz18 /r/malefashionadvice

I tend to like peacoat and leather jackets over puffer jackets and the like. I am wondering how people find brands they like and outfits to try beyond just doing fast fashion and buying stuff with crappy quality. I also want to learn more about the history and the industry so if anyone knows any good books I would be interested

looking for pattern/floral dress shirt ideas to wear under my light grey suit /u/Emotional_Comment293 /r/malefashionadvice

Suit in question: https://www.toddsnyder.com/products/italian-gaberdine-wythe-suit-in-stone

Pic of me wearing suit (i’ll mostly wear it unbuttoned, except for photos i think).

I really like the looser style, but would like to get an interesting patterned plant/floral/similar vibe shirt for underneath. I’m 6 ft 4 and I have very long arms, wide shoulders.

I cant seem to find something that fully hits what i want:
1) Interesting pattern without looking tacky or too grid-like (tropical preferred)

2) An eye-catching pop of color (along with a pocket square or similar thing) that makes the suit more fun

3) Fits the vibe of a tropical setting. Not necessarily plant-themed but at least fits the tropics.

4) Will look good without the jacket, as it will be hot and I will also be without the jacket for at least 70% of the time.

Here are some ideas, do they seem like they would work, or is going for patterns too risky? Suggestions very welcome!

Personal stylists on reddit: what kind of people come to you and who are your best customers? /u/Mysterious-Airline43 /r/malefashionadvice

I don’t know how many personal stylists are in here but I’ve been trying to move from luxury retail into that space as my first attempt at starting a business. who are your typical customers? why do they come to you? and how much do you charge?

Help me find sweatpants that don’t cause “saggy diaper” look. /u/Feisty_Extension1877 /r/malefashionadvice

Help! No matter what sweatpants I buy, I have the same issue. I get slim fitting & tall sweat pants, same ongoing issue. Have tried different brands too. I usually golf, go on walks & lounge in these.

All of the ones I’ve bought cause this same issue, no matter the brand.

Does anyone have a recommended brand that doesn’t do this? I have a small behind (but not flat!) & very long legs, (6ft 2 at 34-36 in inseam). My jeans always look fine & normal, but no luck with sweats/comfort pants.

Would appreciate any pointers.

Ways to improve boyfriend’s style /u/AwayToTheWest /r/malefashionadvice

My boyfriend wants to improve his style and finds it hard to dress himself. He wants me to find him clothes and be his stylist. He doesn’t have much in his wardrobe so I’m wondering where I can find quality make essentials. Items like loose/wide pants, quality jeans, sweaters, things like that. He voiced wanting non skinny jeans, beanies, sweaters, jewelry. Also a good starter shoe to start his better dressing journey? He’s 5’10 and has a slim future frame.

Could you please point me in sites or places I could find these items?

Thank you!!

Completely lost on fashion /u/nikorico12 /r/malefashionadvice

I always been using hoodies and sweatpants. My problem right now is that if I wanted to go to a date, for a walk in not a sporty way, a dinner, etc. have 0 clothes for it.

I don’t know what style I would like to wear, or where to search it.

Any recomendation? Video or anything, I’m not very wealthy, I want to look good but without a lot of money.
