Shrinking Bracelet /u/YanTlr DnD: Roll for Initiative!

I made this item for my campaign and I would like to get opinions if it is balanced or not.

Shrinking Bracelet (requires attunement) This bracelet allows you to use your reaction to shrink to half of your normal size with everything you’re wearing and holding, if you shrink upon receiving and attack, you may impose disadvantage on that attack, while shrunken you have +1 AC but your damage is reduced by 1 category, (d8 tô d6 for example), the shrinking lasts for one hour or until you use your reaction to grow to your normal size again, if you use your mellee attack and use this ability you get advantage on the attack.

What has your experience with weapons mastery been like? /u/alsotpedes DnD: Roll for Initiative!

I’m playing in my first 5.5/2024 rule-set game, and it has been really interesting to see the martial characters use weapons mastery. For those who have been playing martials in or running 5.5 games for a while, what do you think of those effects? Have they been hard to track, and what are they like once you move up out of Tier 1?

Fey companion/familiar? /u/Beginning-Ambition98 DnD: Roll for Initiative!

DMing for my nephews and the youngest (12 yo) met a stray cat that was in poor shape so he fed it and gave it some cuddles. Now the cat is following them around. This gave me an idea. My nephew loves animal companions and the more magical the better. My idea is that the cat has a collar that contains a few arcane phrases. It chooses its master (which acts as an attunement of sorts) and once the cat has chosen its master the latter can speak the phrases and the cat turns into different fey-inspired beasts. The tiny cat will be its standard shape, while it can change into the other shapes for a limited time, a few times pr day. Any suggestions for possible shapes the cat could take that would be funny and varied and have a clear Fey sensibility?

How does the new 5.5e Boon of Spell Recall work with Warlocks? /u/Earl_of_Ham DnD: Roll for Initiative!

How does the new 5.5e Boon of Spell Recall work with Warlocks? /u/Earl_of_Ham DnD: Roll for Initiative!

I believe that there is a significant error in the new Boon of Spell Recall.

The boon’s prerequisites are: “Level 19+; Spellcasting or Pact Magic Feature”

It seems to be clear that Warlocks are supposed to be able to use it.

But the main benefit is worded as follows: “Whenever you cast a spell with a level 1-4 spell slot, roll 1d4. If the number you roll is the same as the slot’s level, the slot isn’t expended.”

However, lategame Warlocks ONLY have level 5 slots to cast with so they have no way of ever actually triggering the boon.

Am I missing something here or is this an error in the rules?

What are the downsides of being undead/zombie/skeleton/lich assuming that you keep your faculties/mind? /u/Sage_Kabuto DnD: Roll for Initiative!

What are the downsides of being undead/zombie/skeleton/lich assuming that you keep your faculties/mind? /u/Sage_Kabuto DnD: Roll for Initiative!

Hey all!

I’ve been writing a campaign and I came up with an interesting concept for a faction.

Essentially a king with no other options had to make a deal with a dark deity that in exchange for saving his people the people become undead.

What I want to have happen is for all the citizens to be undead however the caveat is they still retain their faculties.

At first they think its horrible, but then they realize the benefits of being undead such as immortality and being more resilient against monster attacks being immune to any sickness not being able to feel pain etc. They then view themselves as almost evolved humanoids.

My question is I’m sure there is also downsides to this. For example if they can’t feel pain they probably can’t feel…anything physical…like the warmth of a hug etc.

What other downsides would there be?

Thanks!
