Temporary hit points gives “X” /u/MrBashification DnD: Roll for Initiative!

Temporary hit points gives “X” /u/MrBashification DnD: Roll for Initiative!

Hi all, are there any abilities that activate when you gain temporary hit points? I was looking at the chef feat and the ‘bolstering treat’ part gives you temp hit points equal to your proficiency modifier, which is pretty weak… I was wondering if there was anything this could trigger (broken or not broken). Any ideas?

Players Using Speed to Get Thru Encounters /u/xD33F4ULTx DnD: Roll for Initiative!

Hey y’all, I’m a relatively new DM and have run into a sort of problem. Last session I ran an encounter where the party had to cross a 100ft long rickety bridge with a roper on the ceiling lying in ambush.

It’s a party of 4, a Goliath fighter, a tortle monk, and two halflings. Their solution was pretty simple. The Goliath used dash, action surge, dash, scooped up one of the halflings and ran across. The monk simply dashed with step of the wind and bypassed the whole encounter.

That was fine, it was a creative solution go the problem. The issue came when one player said “we should just do this to get thru every dungeon and not waste time.” Practically, yeah that makes sense. On my end as the DM it makes me feel like putting dungeons in the game is pointless now. What’re some ways that I get my players to try alternative methods for going thru dungeons?
