To fellow chronically ill and/or disabled DMs /u/artofmagpiebee DnD: Roll for Initiative!

Would love to hear from y’all! chronic illness can feel so isolating, even surrounded by an amazing D&D party and group of friends. I have such a hard time being consistent with games because of my health, and even had to take several extended breaks because of it. I’d love to hear from my fellow spoonies and disabled baddies about your experiences as DMs! much love <3

I named an NPC Judas /u/MichaelOxlong18 DnD: Roll for Initiative!

I named an NPC Judas /u/MichaelOxlong18 DnD: Roll for Initiative!

Judas is a very friendly human male who serves as an advisor to the local baron the party has just met.

Judas has very nicely volunteered himself to oversee and assist the party as they work on defending the city from the orc incursion.

Judas is nothing but loyal to the baron and has no intentions of betraying anybody. He has shown only overt kindness to the party and has given no indication that he’s up to anything shady behind the scenes. He has all the makings of an extremely minor side character that in any normal game should maybe six or seven lines of dialogue.

But holy shit do my players hate him.

“Can I insight check this guy?”

“What’s Judas doing while this conversation is going on?”

“I’m gonna go test a few of these arrows Judas gave us, just to make sure they work”

“Can I feed one of Judas’ health potions to my familiar to see if they work?”

This is the funniest shit I’ve ever done and I cannot recommend it enough to my fellow DMs

What kind of civilian clothes do Githyanki wear? /u/Frostybros DnD: Roll for Initiative!

What kind of civilian clothes do Githyanki wear? /u/Frostybros DnD: Roll for Initiative!

Is there any official art or just guideline for this? Whenever I look at Gith art they are always wearing armor.

I can’t imagine they wear armor all the time, but I also can’t imagine they just wear normal medieval human clothes.

Brother in law loves Stranger Things, has never played DND – asked me to DM a one-shot during an AirBnB visit to the Byers house /u/coordinatedflight DnD: Roll for Initiative!

Title explains the situation. I know Stranger Things has a reputation all its own here, so please save any extra spice – this is a gift for family.

I’m wondering, what would be a fun Stranger Things oriented one-shot that is approachable enough that totally new players could enjoy it? Presumably new players might enjoy a physical map. Probably a good thing if we have pre-made characters available (I can handle that part).

While I love homebrew, I think homebrewing might be a bad idea (my homebrew one-shots always turn into 3-4 sessions).

I know there is a Stranger Things DND starter set, but not sure how well enjoyed it is. I also don’t think it comes with enough mini’s for the physical map.

Really hoping to make it a super fun experience for everyone. Thank you!

Temporary hit points gives “X” /u/MrBashification DnD: Roll for Initiative!

Hi all, are there any abilities that activate when you gain temporary hit points? I was looking at the chef feat and the ‘bolstering treat’ part gives you temp hit points equal to your proficiency modifier, which is pretty weak… I was wondering if there was anything this could trigger (broken or not broken). Any ideas?
