​r/DnD For context, I’m a father of 5 (6-14) and a budding DM; my kids all want to learn to play but the youngest two are just learning their letter and just learning to read, so I needed to come up with a way to include them in making their own decisions in the game. The idea I had was to use a sort of card system with distinctive images to allow the non-readers to easily learn and select what they wanted tondo as well as have enough information that I don’t have to keep looking up what that item does. I poked around Reddit and posted a question or two an different forums but to no avail. So, I started working on making them myself. I used GIMP as my medium and set up a system that let me quickly manipulate the information for new cards and not have to recreate the details and spacing every time which will also allow me to expand the lists down the line. I didn’t go crazy and create everything in one go (I tend to be a bit of perfectionist/completionist, so I really had to deliberately pull back on this project) but I dod make sure to set it up in a way that I could easily continue to build and flush things out as I went. For this specific set of characters, one child chose a Ranger, one a Cleric (actually, the second wanted to be, “…a Fairy that flies around healing people!” – I had to do some interpretive setup); unsurprisingly there’s a touch of homebrew going into these as I’m trying to keep things relatively simple, but I think I’ve landed on something solid for the time being. Both of the kids will receive one of the two-sided discs that outline the 8 general actions you can take in a turn (top of image). The Cleric will also have the ‘spell cards’ shown that will hopefully pictorially help explain what they are and how to use them while giving me enough information to help implement them including title (in case I have to look something up), action type (bonus, reaction, action), mana cost (easier to keep tabs on), spell type (buff, debuff, attack), range, and other details. ​r/DnD Hi everyone! Just wanted to mention that Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves is available for streaming on Netflix! I had loved the movie when it first came out in the theatres and just wanted to bring awareness that it’s available for streaming! Go watch it if you haven’t, its filled with so much fun, adventure, personal stories and absurd DnD moments! Partly mentioning as I had also thought more people had joined DnD action since BG3 came out and possibly gained a wider audience. So go catch the movie if you haven’t, as it’s such a light-hearted movie that captures the reality of live DnD games! Edit: it just came out in Singapore. I didn’t know it was out everywhere else!
