[OC] Haggling for a cursed ring that gives you testicular torsion /u/Negative5Charisma DnD: Roll for Initiative!

This is my first attempt at animation for the first episode of our D&D podcast. PS- this cursed ring can be really fun if your party gets creative.

Is there a problem with allowing players to take a ASI and Feat and just increasing the game’s difficulty? /u/Personal-Succotash33 DnD: Roll for Initiative!

Is there a problem with allowing players to take a ASI and Feat and just increasing the game’s difficulty? /u/Personal-Succotash33 DnD: Roll for Initiative!

I ask because I like giving players the ability to customize their character, but ASI boosts are so important and rare that you can’t really afford to go without one unless you’re just building your class a certain way. Is there a problem with homebrewing this rule and then just increasing the difficulty to compensate?

Fireball Dice Box, designed and 3dprinted by me [OC] /u/spotless_atmosphere DnD: Roll for Initiative!

Fireball Dice Box, designed and 3dprinted by me [OC] /u/spotless_atmosphere DnD: Roll for Initiative!

Had the idea for a spell specific dice box. My daughter plays a wizard and uses fireball often, but finding 8d6 and/or rerolling dice is less than ideal.

Designed in tinkercad because I’m a novice and it’s free.

Holds 8d6 (2x2x2)

Uses four 6mm x 3mm magnets to secure the lid.

Lightly beveled the edges.

The fire icon was just freehand within tinkercad.

I haven’t yet, but plan on printing and taping the spell details on the underside of the lid. Range/area/save details etc because we never seem to be certain of the details.

I bought a set of dice online that seemed to fit the fire theme, although they were a bit darker than I expected.

Printed on ankermake m5c.

Thoughts?

Guessing I’ll be asked to do similar for my son’s main attacks.

Encumbrance: take it or leave it? /u/steeevitz DnD: Roll for Initiative!

Encumbrance: take it or leave it? /u/steeevitz DnD: Roll for Initiative!

Has encumbrance ever been interesting and important in a game you played? How did it go?

I was about to dismiss encumbrance out of hand but then I remembered one time it was really fun.

My character’s Strength was 3. Another player pointed out that if it rained, and his clothes got wet, that weight would exceed his encumbrance limit. Maybe this was supposed to dissuade me but we’d made a pact to “take what we rolled.”

So my character went shirtless with silk pants and his weapon was a sling (stones to be picked up on the spot as needed).

It fit the character concept, cleric of Ilmater (suffering), and he made it to level 5.

What’s your encumbrance/unencumbered story?

What dragon should I make my party fight? /u/patmd6 DnD: Roll for Initiative!

What dragon should I make my party fight? /u/patmd6 DnD: Roll for Initiative!

Hey guys! Running a campaign for six players who are level 8. A couple of them have told me separately that they really want to fight a dragon because they’ve never done it before. A dragon fight definitely fits into my campaign (they’re fighting against fiends and cultists on behalf of a multi-faith cathedral). My question is … what dragon should they fight?

So I am open to any kind of dragon of whatever age already stated out in 5e. Obviously it is easier story wise for it to be a chromatic because evil but open to suggestions for metallic and gem if they’re particularly fun to fight (or even two dragons)! I don’t want to chose based off of CR because they’ve been wiping the floor with my encounters based off of the recommendations in the DMG, so really looking for a fight that’s challenging and interesting even if it’s technically too hard for a party at that level. I’d love to hear your suggestions, so thanks in advance!
