Should I post a blackjack game project on Linkedin? /u/RedStorm1917 CSCQ protests reddit

I am a freshman in college and am thinking of writing a blackjack game using html, css, and javascript on. Would that be impressive enough to post on Linkedin for internships and other related opportunities?

I love this subreddit. The toxicity here is so intoxicating I come here to have a daily dose of hatred for the cs field. It also enhances my motivation not work in the industry.

How to address salary compression /u/Canadian_Invest0r CSCQ protests reddit

How to address salary compression /u/Canadian_Invest0r CSCQ protests reddit

I’ve been working as a junior software developer for 4 years at the same company. I was recently promoted to intermediate level, but the issue is that I wasn’t given anything other than the standard annual market adjustment raise.

To make things worse, the company recently listed a job posting for the same title and my salary is nearly $5k below the minimum salary range on the job posting. Fortunately, I am above (albeit narrowly) the maximum salary listed on their junior developer posting.

The only difference between me and the listing is that the listing wants at least 5 years of experience but I only have 4 years.

Should I push for a larger raise to bring me up to the minimum level of the job posting or is the lack of experience enough to justify the pay difference? Or is it just normal for existing employees to essentially work at a discount if they were hired as a lower level and then promoted? How would I even go about pushing for a larger raise when the company culture is very much a case of “everyone gets an X% raise, end of story”?

Topic for PhD /u/_karma_collector CSCQ protests reddit

I’m current a PhD student in CS. Many people advised me to work on topic applicable for industry for my PhD, if I want to have a shot for industry internship. We all know getting a co author paper is many times easier than a first one. So my question is, do topic of co authorship paper count, or only topic of first author paper count, and do they have same weight when it come to topic only?

Visa vs Startup New Grad Offer /u/crackpk CSCQ protests reddit

Visa vs Startup New Grad Offer /u/crackpk CSCQ protests reddit

Hi, I am having a hard time deciding between these 2 offers. Any perspective will be greatly appreciated.

Visa – Austin, TX

TC: $120k

Startup – San Francisco, CA

Base: $150k

Equity: $200k / 4 years vest. This is options at a strike price, not rsu. This can become worthless or 2-5x in a few years.

The startup is a series A in the AI space with 80 employees (and growing). They are profitable and the cash flow seems good.

I am worried about the job stability, WLB, and COL in SF vs Austin.

The growth opportunity is very appealing. Any thoughts about this?

How do employers in this field look at those who take doobie edibles? Is it frowned upon or is it okay just don’t do it at work? I know a lot of companies in today’s world don’t look down on it like back in the day. I use for anxiety

Ex-Manager stalking my LinkedIn profile /u/SD483 CSCQ protests reddit

Hi all, a few weeks ago I posted about being abruptly let go from a tech startup. I have LinkedIn Premium and can see that within 48 hours he has viewed my profile, then switched his visibility to semi-private and then viewed my profile again. Is blocking unprofessional? It’s honestly really creeping me out and making me feel uncomfortable. Any reason why they might be doing this? I will post the original post in the comments for anyone curious.
