He’s not engaging in sex because he wants to do things right /u/BuffBadBaby Sex

I am a bit confused/concerned.

I (27F) have been dating this guy (27M) for about 2 months now. We reconnect and have quite a substantial past, where we had a very physical relationship. This time around he doesn’t seem to want to have sex – he definitely has a reaction towards me but doesn’t act on it.

I asked him what he’s hesitantion is or whether he wanted to be celibate, I’d respect anything he said because I strongly believe sex should never be forced. He’s response was that he cares for me, loves me and wants to take the proper steps. I’m confused because we’ve slept together in the past.

Now I have this annoying thought that’s creeping around in my head, is he waiting for an STD to clear up? There’s no indication that he has one, we’ve not discussed this and, as far as I know, he hasn’t been in any type of physical relationship with anyone since we were together, though I’m not ruling it out.

Is this something I should bring up with him or is he just being genuine?
