I am running a dnd session for a group of people that are very enthusiastic about it, this is their first time playing dnd and they are really into their characters, but there is one person who is maybe overly excited about what they are doing, talking about how cool what they are doing is, and bogging down a lot of our playtime Example1: party is working together on something (combat roleplay ect) player then talks over everyone about how cool the previous thing their whole party did and gives a slight narrative from his perspective “guys I think it’s cool how we combined x ability with x thing and your character and my character are doing that cool thing”(nice once or twice but when a third of your time is being absorbed by someone doing this dming is no longer fun) Example 2 interjecting: when describing his character during the initial introduce he gave a decent character description, then we moved on to and finished the other players intros and started playing, but he interrupted everyone else at the table to tell us more about his character for a few minutes despite me saying it’s time for us to move on or it is someone else’s turn It has gotten to the point where I am running the game and he is talking at the same point, I have given him warnings about we need to move on and to not talk over me, I don’t really wanna kick him out of my group if I don’t have to since he is VERY excited to be playing
TLDR: one player hogs a lot of game time, speaking over me, repeatedly narrating what they just did (he will reexplain what I said happen sometimes) talking during others turns (I suspect he has poor social skills), but he’s too excited to be playing dnd for me to want to kick him out
