Why are the ads for mobile app games played so badly? What’s the psychology there? /u/Sunspot5254 No such thing as stupid questions

I’m talking about those ads where someone is playing a mobile game and they’re playing so badly. Like so obviously terrible that it’s almost infuriating.

The only thing I can think of is that it’s supposed to inspire feelings of, “I can play that so much better! Now I have to prove it!” But I’m not sure. It never makes me want to play the game, so I’m thinking I’m off base here. What’s the mental angle they’re playing at?
