Do I need to be shaving for hookups? /u/DistributionAfraid71 Sex

I (25F) have recently started hooking up with people after getting out of a very long relationship almost a year ago.

A guy I really liked told me he was turned off by the fact that I only trim my pubic hair and don’t shave it. He told me after just one hookup and one time having actual sex. I know that people have preferences, but I was upset because I did like him, and I felt used because he had sex with me anyway.

I am not really interested in shaving for hookups because I’m Italian so I get bad ingrown hairs when I shave, but my question is, do I need to start shaving if I am going to try to hook up with people?

Is it that much of a dealbreaker?

And do I need to warn people that I don’t shave before we have sex?
