Hey guys, I’m feeling a little lost and uninspired right now. I’ve looked at guides, other reddit posts, youtube videos you name it and I’m still stuck in some kind of rut. I just can’t seem to be able to pick out clothes that I can incorporate into my wardrobe anymore.
I used to be into very heavy streetwear and sneakers since probably 2016 up until around 2022. Mainly Bape and Supreme to begin with and then transitioned into Patta which was mainly due to the community we all had on Facebook. I thought I had found my place in the fashion realm. Patta was my transition from heavy streetwear into casual streetwear. The algorithm changed and the group saw heavy decline with which my love for the brand grew weaker. At the time I felt like I’d grown up a bit and my wardrobe just never caught up to my growth. I also thought I had it all figured out and that I’m the shit (I’m sure we’ve all been there) but life as it does – grounded me a little bit. My outlook on life changed and with that I fell a tad bit out of love with fashion in general.
Since then fashion has taken off in terms of numbers worldwide. A lot more people are interested in looking good and with that comes all the internet content which I feel like I’ve been over-consuming. Now I’ve discovered so much with the help of social media and that just has me stuck on what style to go for because my pockets just don’t run deep enough for me to make mistakes and explore every possibility.
I just like stuff that’s slower made, handmade, quality materials, sustainable bits. A lot of fashion nowadays doesn’t carter to all that or maybe I just don’t know where to look. 90% of the stuff I’ve ever bought has been off ebay or other platforms cuz 1. I’m a cheapskate and the stuff I like is pricy when it comes to retail 2. It’s more sustainable 3. You find bits that you might not be able to get anywhere else. I feel like that’s a bit of a problem cuz it’s always limited me to work with only things I can find on second hand platforms n now I find it a bit harder to accomplish due to the the fact that most of the stuff I like is not as mass made or hype as streetwear was. Back in the day when I was into streetwear I could find any piece I wanted for cheap not long after retail release.
I’m just ranting at this point but does anyone have any tips or guidance on how I should approach the matter? I’m just don’t have a clue on what to do.
