Jagex once paid Asmon a handsome sum of money to make content on OSRS. Now he’s making videos criticising them for free. /u/BronnOP Old School RuneScape!

Once again, the short sightedness of Jagex is showing.

Not too long ago they paid Asmongold a good chunk of change to play OSRS on his stream in a sponsored segment.

Now, Asmongold has made two videos criticising Jagex, criticising the third parties they have worked with, and advertising to a large audience of not just gamers, but dedicated MMORPG fans – Jagex’s core audience.

Video 2: https://youtu.be/bup_YmV7pSw?si=OV48dlCtqGmulB0E

After just 24 hours these videos already have over 1 million views, plus the tens of thousands that watched live.

All of this negative publicity was garnered for free. Actually, not even for free it cost Jagex money in the form of paying the third party that worked with them for this survey, in people unsubscribing, and in harming new player interest.

My point here is that instead of increasing prices and screwing players, maybe don’t waste money promoting the game when later you’re going to absolutely tank it with silly, rushed, shortsighted decisions.

One step forward, three steps back.
