So I am a high-schooler with free hours and an interest in computers so I decided to learn how to program and build cool stuff. I also want to have a career in this so I think it’s best to do this, since I am also enjoying it. My main two objectives with this goal are –
- To sink myself deep into technology and computers and programming as I find them interesting and then find cool things to work on and build
- To be able to support myself financially as early as I can and have a little side income
Now I started with web development from Odin Project and I really enjoy it. But I’ve seen people going around claiming that if you want to do good in something find a niche and be the best at it. So I need y’all help to answer these questions –
- Should I drop webdev and instead focus on picking up a niche like cloud computing, cybersecurity, Web3 etc and then focus on getting better at that ?
- I am worried that jumping right onto things like cybersec and stuff might become difficult for me to handle and process and webdev can give me a foundation upon which I can build and be better in these niche so I should complete that first. Am I right in thinking this ?
So basically, I need some advice on whether I should drop webdev and try to find niche or should I continue with webdev ? It’s too difficult to list pros and cons here since I have absolutely zero experience. Please guide me.
