Why is the tiktok ban in USA such a big deal? /u/CrispyCouchPotato1 No such thing as stupid questions

I’ve been seeing sub after sub filled with the tiktok ban screenshots.

I’ve been seeing posts of people signing up on rednote.

There even was a supposed uptick in Chinese on Duolingo ….

I’m honestly kinda baffled. Why is this such a big deal?! It’s just an entertainment app!

P.S. – In case it wasn’t obvious, I’m not an American.
