Can you tell the difference between leather vs synthetic /u/Accomplished_Room_53 /r/malefashionadvice

I need to start buying office clothes and be in the office for a new role. I was wondering if it’s worth buying leather and name brand quality dress shoes. The ones from like Nordstrom Macy Bloomingdale’s etc that are higher quality vs ones from the discount rack or entry level department stores. Can people tell the quality in person and notice I went cheap on shoes. Is the built that much better where I will see a return due to better fitting, aging, long lasting.
