Is it still possible to find freelancing work through webdev or is it drying up for beginners ? /u/FreeBirdy00 CSCQ protests reddit

So I am a highschooler and these days I have some extra time on my hands left after my studies. I decided to put it to good use and got started with Odin Project’s full stack bootcamp about a few days ago.

But I come across these reddit posts and news articles claiming that web development is a thing of the past now and people now create websites by themselves by using AI and other stuff. I think you all get an idea to the kind of news and posts I am referring to.

So is it true ? Is webdev actually drying up and opportunities are shrinking for newcomers and beginners who’re trying to kickstart their freelancing career in this ? Should I continue to go along with this or should I drop this plan and learn something else ?

Also I am not aiming to stick with webdev freelancing as a final career option. I just want to try my hands on something temporarily (to mainly get myself started in programming and tech) and also make some money while doing it to support myself financially for as long as I can.
