I got hired as a software intern at a very small startup. The founder has a very good history with startups, but that was 15 years ago. Now his former company is worth over $5 billion.
I work closely alongside with him, but he seems to not know what he wants. For example, I can keep changing the same component to what he tells me to do, but then he changes his mind, and just tells me to use ChatGPT for everything.
The first paycheck was 3 months late, he claims he has funding, and so on. He has paid me though to be fair. I learned a lot at the beginning, but now I feel like I’m just doing the same thing everyday and it is starting to get boring and annoying working with him since he changes his mind so many times.
The worst thing is how he expects me to come in on Saturday and Sunday, and answer his phone calls any time of the day. Morning or night. He sometimes makes comments like “I could hire an engineer from India for cheaper” I am still a student, and this is starting to feel like exploitation, I think I am ready to quit this job.
Has anyone had an experience similar to this?
