What do you like about being a software engineer? /u/tyngst CSCQ protests reddit

Hello fellows, I need a dose of “new perspectives”.

I got a bachelor in CS/math and been working in the industry for 3 years. I’m starting to lose it. I really enjoyed uni, so much so that I did a lot of hobby projects and such, but actually working with this stuff drains my soul. I work with safety critical embedded stuff, so that might be one reason, but overall, I feel like this job is 99% drudgery and 1% creative problem solving (which was the reason I chose CS to begin with).

With that said. Maybe I’m just stuck in a negative mindset, thus, could you please share with me the things you like about this job. And if you’ve ever been in my situation and managed to turn it around, how did it happen?

Thankful for any wisdom here.
