Is it really true that the CIA spread disinformation about contacting aliens to scare the Soviets during the cold war? /u/PuppyKicker82 No such thing as stupid questions

I saw a youtube video about “serpo project” which was apparently a made up story by the CIA. The story was about U.S. Military members contacting aliens and having friendly relations with them and even visiting an alien planet. The youtuber has like 4 million subs and they claimed that the CIA made it and spread it around to make the soviets scared of their technology, and pretty much presented this idea as a fact. However, I have not been able to find any real sources about this and the only people talking about this are far left and right communities and conspiracy theory communities.
