I am looking for advice from people working in ML/AI Engineering and adjacent roles.
I am located in Canada and have a BS in CS and 5 years of experience in SWE in big tech. I enjoyed ML and AI classes in college, and have been working on an online MS in AI from UT Austin which I plan to finish this spring.
I would like to find a job where I can specialize in engineering solutions for ML and AI products. I would also prefer working on medical, engineering, or scientific products.
- What are employers looking for when hiring engineers for these roles?
- What do interviews look like for ML/AI engineers?
- What are the primary industries hiring engineers (not researchers/scientists) for these roles?
- Do you have any recommendations for networking in this area?
