I get that the average Joe isn’t being affected by this at all, but we need to draw a line in the sand eventually, right?
The easiest argument against these “games”, is that they’re not games. You run them in the background and get a random banana that you can eventually trade in for money. There’s no substance of a game here besides clicking on a fucking banana.
Another thing is that people do get scammed from this shit, like actually trading csgo skins, or even actual games (yes, I’ve met someone who this this!) For these JPEG bananas, because they think they’ll eventually appreciate in value. Now you can call these people idiots for trading actual things of value for these bananas, but the truth of the matter is that we still got to protect these people, no matter how warped their thinking is.
Also, the dev of the ShitFT is probably (allegedly) making tons of money by manipulating the stock of certain bananas, and might have secret inventories of bananas he only owns which makes it more valuable. Now I haven’t done research on this claim, and have only looked at other posts claiming these so take it multiple cups a salt.
There are already clones that popped up from this dogshit game, and having these scammy “games” allowed on Steam is just setting a dangerous precedent. We can’t just let this slop become normalized.
TL;DR: The Banana “Game” is a lazy slop scam that does breed a community of scammers that do affect Steam users. Letting this game and it’s clones continue to exist on Steam sets a bad example, and also the Dev might be using this game as a way to make in thousands of dollars.
