Do people eventually career switch ? /u/EitherAd5892 CSCQ protests reddit

I got 1 yoe as a swe and was laid off. Idk why it’s so stupid difficult to get back a swe job. I ended up having to do career switch temporarily doing sales rep to pay the bills. I feel vastly underemployed doing the sales job with my degree and exp. I don’t mind doing sales but damn this tech industry is cooked. I feel like once you get laid off employers see u as disposable or something it’s just so hard getting back into the field and eventually u have to switch . Is this the reality of going to college and studying to become swe?
