I used to just go full-on max efficiency in this game, using every possible resource and blazing through quests.
Recently, however, I decided to try to do some quests like “back in the day,” when guides didn’t exist yet. And man, I’ve been having a blast ever since. The quests are actually structured super well, and it’s so much more engaging to actually figure out the steps myself than just using the Runelite addon or another guide. It reminds me of playing a point and click game or something. This game no doubt has some of the best MMO quests, a far cry from the generic “kill 12 goblins, and then come back to me” type of quests common in the genre.
So in the context of questing, at least for me, it really pays off to throw out the efficiency mindset and actually play the game like any other (single player) game when it comes to quests. Sure, I’m slower, but I’m actually doing something instead of mindlessly following steps and clicking on highlighted objects.
