I have a couple of options on how / where I want to take my internships, and wanted to see which of these options would be the best. For context, I’m currently doing a 4-month internship with possibility of extension at one of the better companies in my city.
I was wondering what would be the best:
1) Do as many unique / different internships to stack up experience on resume and open up doors to better post-grad opportunities
If you agree with 1) would you still agree even if I were leaving my company for a less known / “worse” company? Or would you not consider it to be worthwhile if the prospective company is not as good as my current one?
2) Stick with my current internship and transfer internally to a different team within the same company while at the same time looking for internships at better companies (therefore, only leaving if another “better” company grants me an offer ).. possibly not switching internally as well but rather extending within the same team and excelling at the current stack I’m working at
3) Stack up experience however I like, wherever I like and switch between roles whenever I feel like I want to change it up
Essentially, all I care about is what would make the strongest resume post-grad and open up doors for better opportunities.
My current viewpoint is that the more variety you have on your resume is better, and I feel like that it may not be the best look from a perspective employer to have had most of my experience at one area / one company (again, this is just an assumption)
