I’m a civil engineer and while I have it good right now (good env, best pay in area, job security), I really want a fighting chance on making more money in this career. I’ve been studying for two years and am done with 5/15 classes at Oregon state’s program which is a BSCS. Interview prepped in the fall, got 2 interviews from 80 apps for internships but didn’t pass.
I’m just not sure if I should continue or give up on my dreams. I’m so passionate about it starting 1 year after studying. It’s so hard to work and go to school, it burned me out. I have 18 months of savings and I’m 25, but I’m still so scared of quitting with all these CEO statements about AI, offshoring, and the general attitude everywhere. I really wanted to make an impact in the future with my work and wanted to be a part of either a startup or a big tech company.
After getting burned out my long term relationship ended and she left because I couldn’t take care of myself. It’s been 2.5 months now. Honestly want to continue but restarting my savings at 27 or so is daunting.
