If you’re riding with someone who is driving poorly, do you say anything to them about it? /u/K-Pumper No such thing as stupid questions

A few months ago I went to a wedding in Lake Placid in upstate New York. I didn’t know anyone there at all except for the couple getting married. I was initially going to rent a car to get to the wedding venue from the airport, but my friend said they knew someone who would give me a ride. They even picked me up from JFK and everything, were super nice, wouldn’t accept any sort of payment from me even though I offered. I did eventually convince him to let me buy him dinner though. Super nice guy, bad driver.

He drove in the left lane the entire way up, and slowly too. He also didn’t use cruise control and couldn’t keep a consistent speed. So for like 3 hours we’re in the left lane going anywhere from 5-15mph below the speed limit. People were flying past us on the right. Occasionally someone would try to pass us and he’d subconsciously speed up, or he’d pass someone and then immediately slow down.

Literally the type of driver that annoys me the most. It was distressing and a real test of patience. Would you have said anything to him in this situation?
