Controller support /u/KanadianBacon80 Steam on Reddit

Recently got back into laptop gaming. I have a Nintendo Switch and some “pro” controllers. So I setup one of them to use with Steam. Steam recognizes it as a Nintendo controller for one game I was playing (Grim Dark). Then I switched and played Jedi Survivor and that game flipped it to thinking it was an Xbox controller and button mapping was wrong. After a while i switched back to the first game and it still thought I was using an xbox controller and buttons were wrong from previous playing. Steam setup wouldnt let me switch it back to Nintendo from Xbox. Had to restart laptop and original game found the Nintendo controller setup again…..So after all that is there a certain controller that works best with Steam and most games?
