Hi, I am currently a Research master’s student in CS, with a focus on NLP. I did my bachelor’s in mathematics and have done and published research in ML.
I recently got an internship offer at a big bank as a model validation quant, and the job description mentions use of LLMs, RAG and other AI/ML stuff, which is why I am considering it.
I have no previous experience in the field of finance, or quant in general, but it seems like an interesting job. But from what I gather, model validation quant jobs are not very high paying, or mentally stimulating as such.
I wanted to know what the career prospects of a full time offer for a model validation quant looks like, given my AI/ML expertise. Is transition to front office to get more lucrative pay possible with my background eventually?
Any guidance is welcome. I didn’t find much information related to this particular scenario in this sub, so a new question.
