Why is it so difficult to fight wildfires like the one in Los Angeles? /u/No-involuntary-porn No such thing as stupid questions

I live in a country without wildfires and therefor completely lack knowledge about them. For me it´s weird that they aren´t able to extinguish/prevent fires in one of the richest places in the world.

I apologize if my question gets perceifed as unsensitive. I am really compassionate with the victims and english isn´t my first language.
