Last night we has a tense moment in which we faced down an evil emperor atop a pet dragon, and his fleet of ships surrounding us with weapons trained.
Our divination wizard wanted to try something out but was really on the fence about it. I jokingly said “quicksave!!” And we went with it.
The thing was actually REALLY COOL but ultimately got us TPK’d.
We then “reloaded” from that quicksave and played it off like the divination wizard just had a horrible vision that gave them a headache and a nosebleed, and we proceeded to complete the encounter with a reasonable conversation.
I know people often put a lot of emphasis on committing to decisions always following through and living with them, but we honestly had a TON of fun doing that, and I think in moderation, more tables should consider occasionally marking a “quicksave!” moment in order to try something Spicy 👀
Have any of you done something like this before? How did it go? (More specifically marking a point to return to BEFORE doing something, rather than just wiping and then deciding to go back to a certain point after the fact)
