I seems like all mention of natural weapons, which previously described beast attacks, has been removed in the new rules.
Based on the new description of unarmed strikes:
"Instead of using a weapon to make a melee attack, you can use a punch, kick, head-butt, or similar forceful blow. In game terms, this is an Unarmed Strike-a melee attack that involves you using your body to damage, grapple, or shove a target within 5 feet of you."
A weapon is defined:
"A weapon is an object that is in the Simple or Martial Weapon category"
Since there is no mention of natural weapons or anything similar in either weapons table, and considering beast attacks seem to fit the description of a melee attack that involves using your body to do damage, it seems like they are unarmed strikes. Considering there is no mention of natural weapons in features, items, or weapon masteries, defining them as unarmed strikes would open up a lot of options for druids that could be fun (also potentially broken).
Curious of your thoughts or if there has been some clarity around this.
