Will other, non-game, programs work on SteamOS? /u/monkmode87 Steam on Reddit

With SteamOS3 releasing on PC and boasting better performance in games compared to windows, will linux compatible programs work on SteamOS? One of the nicest things about having a PC over a console, in my opinion, is being able to have video editing software, recording software, etc all on one machine. I’ve never owned a deck and I’m pretty unfamiliar with SteamOS so I apologize if this is a question that’s already been answered.
