So I have a “problem” player /u/JewishKaiser DnD: Roll for Initiative!

I’m running out of ideas here. The thing I love about DND is that it really, really shows the imagination of its players. But my player here loves taking it a touch too far.

Today, we had a session (I was not the DM for this, but we just concluded this campaign and I am running the next one) where this dude held up the group for 40 MINUTES talking about getting new equipment for the BBEG and trying to neogiate prices for every little thing. Like bro… we’re all level 20. We can each solo Tiamat at this point.

There was another time he talked for 20 minutes trying to convince the bad guys to surrender. Habibi, our DM didn’t even name these guys, they are built specifically for us to have combat with.

Anyway, for my new campaign, I said, go ahead, you guys can pick any class, and you guys can be any race, so long as it’s biological, so no constructs (essential for the plot). The plot being: you are all raised in an orphanage, all around the same age.

I even asked “Hey guys, for this campaign your backstories are a bit railroaded, that cool with y’all?” WHOLE GROUP CONSENTED

Dude immediately goes with “I’m gonna be a warforged rogue multiclass artificer”

Or “Actually bro can I be a ghost”

BRO

KEEP IT SIMPLE

I love the imagination but I told you, you’re an orphan.

And I dont have much of a problem with multiclassing, my problem is that the people who ARE into multiclassing all seem absolutely hellbent on becoming the main character, the god of the game, and most frustratingly they try to derail the campaign with their shenanigans. HOMEBOY, we are all busy, we don’t have time to spend 40 minutes with you exclusively trying to gather ingredients for a nuclear bomb.
