Authentic Navy Peacoat sizing question /u/john2046 /r/malefashionadvice

So I just got what I believe to be an authentic Navy peacoat from the 40s or 50s. A fedora lounge post on dating peacoats makes me believe this. It was listed as 50-53 Korean war. I got a size 34 based on another fedora lounge Navy peacoat sizing guide, and this size 34 peacoat is so tight on me. That sizing article says the earlier peacoats were a slimmer fit. But the sleeves are too short too, and bending my arms, it feels a bit tight wearing only a long sleeve t-shirt underneath. I want to be able to layer a sweater underneath. Do you guys recommend I try to find another of size 36? Or should I go up 2 sizes? I really love the thickness of the wool and the look overall. Hand-warmer pocket seem high, but from pics I’ve seen, seems that is normal for peacoats.
