I started playing WoW during Wrath of the Lich King. Since then, I have played the game on and off and completed almost all the main content except Dragonflight (which I have skipped entirely). I recently decided to return to Azeroth as I kept seeing people saying that WoW “was back.”
However, after barely three weeks of playing, I don’t find anything specific interesting enough to justify renewing my subscription. I have reached “end-game” content with four different characters, and after a while, I get bored and start leveling a new alt. It was the first time I grew so quickly bored with the latest expansion. I feel that M+ and raiding are the only things to do. Still, even that seems a bit boring compared to previous expansions (I used to love doing M+ back in Legion, one of my favorite expansions).
I do not understand things going on, like the new profession mechanics (I guess this was a Dragonflight alteration) or why Blizzard abandoned Archeology (I used to enjoy traveling around collecting parts to restore artifacts). I might miss content not explicitly related to M+ or raiding, but that adds to the game’s universe (like unlocking artifacts’ skins in Legion or completing covenant’s activities).
This post is not a rant about the game (I enjoyed the campaign) or an attempt to criticize its current state. I want to understand what content keeps you returning to WoW regularly, as I have an emotional connection to this game but am currently feeling lost.
