Why are school zones enforced during school hours, when the children are locked inside a building, but then you can speed again when the kids are out of school, and have a higher likelihood of being on the street? /u/USMC0317 No such thing as stupid questions

Picking my kids up from school right now and this never made sense to me. During school hours they are safe inside a locked building, so you shouldn’t have to drive slower to decrease risk of hitting someone. But then when school is out, and the children are free to roam, you can drive fast again…
