How does steam families work with saves and dlc? /u/elder_man Steam on Reddit

so wait i’m in a steam family with my friend and i wonder this, if i make a save in say…sonic mania with my friend’s copy of the game, would that save be connected to my copy or his?

and what if i buy the game myself but he has the dlc and i don’t, what would happen?

if i made a save in the elden ring dlc with my friend’s copy of the game, then i buy my own copy of elden ring and play that copy, would my old save show up? or would it be separate saves for each copy?

would my save corrupt because my copy lacks the dlc
