Hi all, this post is mainly directed towards females at birth as I have heard of so many other women experiencing this. I just wanted to share my news because I am so happy to finally find an answer and maybe I can help someone else!! Ever since I started having sex months ago, I experienced unrelenting pain, no matter what we tried. I have been to several different gyno’s looking for a second and third opinion, all suggesting the same thing; yes I have tried tons of lube. yes he is super considerate and goes slow. yes we do foreplay. No avail. Sometimes it was so excruciating I would be crying, and we would have to stop. Finally, after yet another frustrated call, a different doctor referred me to a pelvic floor therapist. I never expected that could be the cause. Desperate for relief, I went to my first appointment today. She did an examination and found that several of my internal pelvic floor muscles were hypertonic (tenser than normal). She then prescribed me an exercise plan to follow which consists of a couple stretches that I do each day. I am so happy to finally know what was wrong and have a game plan! She said that after a little while of following the plan I SHOULD definitely have improvement. I just started today, but crossing my fingers and I will keep you all updated if it goes well! TL;DR: If anyone has pain with sex despite all common methods tried, consider seeing a pelvic floor therapist instead of a gynecologist 🙂
