Would you choose condoms long term or a vasectomy if you were not having/done having children? /u/Composing-Life Sex

Hormonal birth control can cause short and long term damage for many women/female partners and often is not the best choice or an option at all. (Side effects ranging from mild to serious) The “pull out” method is a real good way to end up a parent, and natural family planning (timing ovulation) can have a decent pregnancy risk factor if the female partner is not super regular with her cycle. (Which anything from the flu to stress can change)

Assuming none of these are an option (Though there are women who very much prefer hormonal options) which would you choose?

I’m very much one of those women. Weight gain, blood pressure spike, migraines before and after my period, sometimes I’d have 6-10 days a month where I essentially felt like I had the flu and a LOT of pain when I had my iud, etc. I’m through putting synthetic hormones in my body, I don’t tolerate them well at all. I’m also not someone who would likely have a good reaction to having my tubes tied. A lot of women have hormonal complications after and it seems I’m made of hormonal complications….(vasectomies are also safer in general, linked to fewer long term complications, and cheaper. Which makes sense. Testicles are external so there’s no risk of bowel damage like with a tubal ligation)

My husband has flip flopped on this a lot actually. He’s not against condoms and is fine using them, but he’d prefer not if we could, but regardless sex is good either way and we frequently do oral so it isn’t like he uses one every time we do anything.

What do you think? If you were in that situation what would you choose?
