I keep getting vaginal yeast infections, is there a way to prevent them? /u/Evening-School-6383 Sex

I have been getting recurring yeast infections since july, together with my boyfriend we tried preventing them but at this point I don’t know how they happen anymore.

The last infection lasted for nearly 3 months, the over the counter medication I got at first didn’t help at all, what helped were capsules containing boric acid that i had to take for 10 days. I waited for over a week after the treatment before being intimate again.

This makes me think I could be having a more rare species of candida.

We don’t use lube, no oral sex, my boyfriend’s hands are always washed and he has his nails trimmed, there is no saliva and we use non-flavoured latex condoms.

However, the infection returned around 4-5 days after the last time we got intimate.

Am I missing something? What could be the cause?
