Delaying employment start date because I am getting married. /u/conan152 CSCQ protests reddit

Hi, for context: I was offered a job in November 2024, and the original start date was supposed to be around that time. However, the employer delayed my start date until March 2025, citing that they were “overstaffed.” My circumstances have since changed as I’m currently planning my wedding and sorting things out, meaning I won’t be able to start until July. Would this potentially be an issue for the employer? And is it common for employers to allow such adjustments?

EDIT: To elaborate, I am a foreign worker dependent on a visa. Last November, my employment was delayed because the company was overstaffed at the time. While I was still in the U.S., they advised me to return to Asia to enjoy the holidays and planned for me to start in March 2025. However, my plans have since changed and my fiancé is coming home by early of July— we’re getting married—so I am now looking to postpone my employment until last week of July before returning abroad.

Thoughts are appreciated.
