Why do people get annoyed when others ask them clarifying questions? /u/hellohellshelly No such thing as stupid questions

In some cases, people stick to certain practices simply because “this is how we’ve always done it.” However, I want to understand the reasoning behind these methods and their purpose, especially when they don’t make sense to me at the moment. When I ask for clarification, though, people sometimes become annoyed and think I’m giving them a hard time and they start to distance themselves when I am genuinely interested in knowing these things.
